It’s only in recently that I’ve starting calling myself a writer.
If you write … whatever you write, you too are a writer.
It does not matter what you write, or where you write, or when you write.
All that matters is that you write—something, anything.
You’re writing does not need to be the next great American novel or a Broadway play.
Your writing can be anything.
A shopping list, or notes to yourself, or snatches of half heard dialogue, reframed and reused. Your writing doesn’t even have to be writing.
If you have a cell phone that is moderately up-to-date on which you have a note taking application you can simply speak into your phone, wherein, voice recognition software will automatically convert your spoken thoughts into text.
All that matters is that you take action and that you write something.
Here's why:
Writing regularly hones your writing skills. Like any craft, improvement comes with practice. By putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard, you actively engage and refine your writing abilities.
Writing is a creative outlet that allows ideas to flow freely. It's a way to express your thoughts, emotions, and imagination. The act of writing helps you tap into your creativity and explore new ideas.
Writing forces you to articulate your thoughts coherently. It helps clarify your ideas and beliefs. As you write, you may discover new perspectives or refine your understanding of a subject.
Writing can be a journey of self-discovery. It provides an opportunity for introspection and self-expression. It allows you to explore your identity and values through the words you choose.
Effective writing translates to improved communication skills. Whether conveying ideas in a professional setting or expressing emotions in personal writing, the ability to articulate thoughts clearly is invaluable.
If you aspire to be a storyteller, writing is the foundation. Whether it's fiction, non-fiction, or any other genre, the act of writing stories develops your narrative skills and enhances your ability to engage an audience.
Forget about hesitation. Take action!
If writing is a passion or a goal, the best way to pursue it is to start writing.
It's a journey of self-discovery, skill development, and creative expression that unfolds with each written word.
What are you waiting for? Get to it …
As always, thanks for reading.
